Biafra: Agitation for self Determination is legal and Nigeria’s Unity is Negotiable

Written By Rose Chinedu / IPOB Writers

Biafra was formed by Igbo nationalists who believed they could no longer coexist with Nigeria, leading to the Nigerian Civil War. Nigerian government had reneged on the Aburi accord agreement which could have averted the war. Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu who was the arrow head of that agitation for the Biafra Nation fled to Ivory Coast. Nigeria declared war on Biafra shortly after its declaration of independence, a war that lasted for three years from July 1967 to January 1979, eventually resulting in the defeat of Biafra and the reunification of the two states.

History has it on record that over 3 million people were killed in that war, some from gun shots and some from starvation. Yet, since the war was declared ended in 1970, the Eastern region have not witnessed any improvement or any deliberate effort by the Nigerian government to keep to the terms of “No victor No vanquished “status upon which peace was brokered.

The three Rs agreement of Reconciliation, Reconstruction and Restructuring have not been followed nor adhered to. The Eastern zone have continually been marginalized by the government at the center. The rebuilding of the war-torn zone has consistently been ignored by successive governments and it has been left at the mercy of individuals.

The zone has remained an abandoned zone and is regarded as a conquered territory by the governing class of Hausa/Fulani oligarchy who have clinched to power for most of the time since after the war. The zone ever since has been bedeviled by a lot of deprivation and its void of infrastructural and man power development.

As a result of this neglect and gross violation of human rights witnessed by the indigenous people of the eastern region, their best brains have been massively drained while other capable youths who stayed on in their lands have been made redundant such that after years of toiling and gaining high academic feats and laurels, they get nothing from Nigeria to show for their intelligence, ingenuity and brilliance.

There are no opportunities for capacity building and harnessing of their potentials on their own soil. They only find reprieve, recognition and excellence outside the shores of Nigeria. The need for the restoration of Biafra therefore becomes inevitable and imperative.

The people therefore yearn for a better country where they can find expression and where their aspirations can be actualized. They desire daily for a country they can call their own having been displaced in the scheme of things in Nigeria.

It becomes therefore clear that due to increasing rate of unemployment, marginalization from the commonwealth of the country, bad government, corruption, high cost of living and lately the menace of marauding Fulani herdsmen terrorists who are now moving into the eastern part to graze their cattle destroying peoples farmlands and crops, armed and killing indigenes with their Ak 47, maiming and raping women, hence the desire to opt-out of Nigeria has also become paramount in the hearts of several youths.

The restoration of Biafra has become imperative in the face of continued oppression of the indigenous people even on their ancestral lands. It is noteworthy that there is a deliberate and continued effort to emasculate and strangulate the economy of entrepreneurs of East geopolitical zone while granting their counterparts from the North several incentives and economic boosts.

The menace of Boko Haram in the North which the government is treating with kids gloves by negotiating with them, granting them amnesty and integrating them into the army and using them as their foot soldiers is not only worrisome but very regrettable.

Whereas in the peaceful eastern states, the government of the day places heavy military and police teams who kill youths with reckless abandon and extort money from motorists. This has become another catalyst that fuels the embers of disunity and secession.

The government at the center has recently exhibited gross misconduct by clamping down and silencing journalists, banning press freedom, frustrating the autonomy of the judiciary, flouting court orders, shooting protesters, proscribing freedom fighters killing some, jails them without trial and designating them as terrorists while pampering the real terrorists and all these culminated in the agitation for the restoration of Biafra.

the Biafran restoration will not only wake up the sleeping giant which is Africa, it will resurrect and bring back to life the enormous resources of African sons and daughters, it will bring back to life the pan African initiatives which Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and other great heroes that fought for when they worked hard against colonialism.

Nigeria under the present regime is now colonialism. Its rulership of Fulani, a nomadic pseudo illiterate races whose main agenda is to conquer, dominate and take over ancestral lands from their hosts countries will only record failures and demerits. In Biafra, the entire continent of Africa shall be liberated from the shackles of these wanderers from the Sahel whose mission is to destroy any country whose religious orientation is averse to their Islamization and jihadist tendency.

In Biafra, Africa will recover its complete autonomy from the western world’s domination and subjugation. In Biafra Africa will witness again and of course enjoy the benefits of the rising sun which Biafra is symbolic of. In Biafra, Africa will become a risen giant among the committee of nations. Africa shall be recognized again as the cradle of civilization. In Biafra, Africa will reclaim its place and lost glory among the world powers.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra is a young man that has been fighting for the liberation and freedom of the eastern states trapped in Nigeria. He has called for a referendum to determine the fate of these states in Nigeria but the government of Buhari has consistently maintained that the unity of Nigeria is not negotiable, a statement that one of Buhari’s kinsmen has recently faulted.

Nnamdi Kanu had in 2015 been arrested and detained for two years and the president failed to adhere to court orders to release him unconditionally. He was eventually released in 2017 after stringent bail terms were met. He had called the Nigerian government to organize a referendum that will eventually lead to the secession of Biafran states from Nigeria, a move that is not palatable to the northern oligarchy.

As a result of his failure to drop his agitation, he was accused of treason and inciting terrorism. Kanu was bailed after two years and while awaiting his next court appearance at his home in Afaraukwu Umuahia in Abia state, his home was raided by the military while a good number of persons in his father’s compound were killed.

He escaped assassination by the whiskers and he fled to reappear in Israel after a year. Kanu was extraordinarily renditioned back to Nigeria in July 2021. He has since been in the custody of Nigerian DSS (Department of States Services), to answer to an amended 7 count charge bordering on terrorism and treason.

He is being illegally detained because he has not committed any offense known to law. We hereby alert the international community to wedge into this case of human right abuses by the Buhari government because injustice to one is injustice to all.

Kanu is a British citizen who has renounced his Nigerian citizenship and who has not committed any treasonable and incriminating offense worthy of the demonization and humiliation he is being subjected to.

Nnamdi Kanu is a freedom fighter whose rights have been infringed upon, a victim of the corrupt socio-political menace that Nigeria has become among fellow African countries. Nigeria is a signatory to the United Nations chatter on self-determination.

Self-determination is an inalienable right of individuals who feel marginalized in their home country and who for one reason or the other want to belong to a separate nation. If Britain could negotiate their exit from European Union, why would any sane leader in Nigerian government still hold on to the archaic belief that negotiating the existence of Biafra outside Nigeria is a terrorist act.

Why would Nigerian’s unity be sacrosanct? We, call on the Nigerian government as a matter of urgency to desist from overheating the East and causing heightened tension. The government should as a matter of urgency release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally and amend the Nigerian constitution to make provision for referendum so that indigenous peoples can determine their stay or otherwise in Nigeria

Ethiopia: Sidama Region votes for Self Rule in Decisive Referendum

Published Friday, November 22, 2019 at 19:21 CET

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Thursday praised the conduct of a referendum in the ethnic Sidama region, that many expect will approve the creation of a new federal state.
Abiy's comments came as votes were tallied a day after the ballot seen as a critical test in a nation already struggling with community tensions.
With apparently overwhelming support among Sidamas to form their own state, the backing of Abiy is an important indication of the central government response ahead of the official release of results.
Analysts say it could inspire other groups to push for autonomy and redraw boundaries in Ethiopia, Africa's second-most populous country with more than 100 million people.

"Congratulations to citizens and institutions involved in holding a peaceful and democratic referendum for Sidama statehood," a statement from Abiy's office said.
"The voting process is demonstrative of our capacity for taking our differences to the ballot and allowing democratic processes to prevail."
The Sidama autonomy push gained fresh momentum after Abiy, winner of this year's Nobel Peace Prize, took office last year and enacted a series of reforms that have encouraged more freedoms.
But his drive to open up Ethiopia's authoritarian one-party state has also unleashed ethnic violence as different groups and regions jostle for power and resources.
Ethnic divisions
Desta Ledamo, chief administrator of Sidama, said the election "shows the world that a civilised power struggle can take place in Ethiopia".
Local election observers and voters also reported no major issues during Wednesday's ballot.

If approved, the new state would be largely based on ethnic divisions, handing tax-raising powers and control over schools, police, health and other services to the Sidamas, who would be in the majority in the state.
Excitement is high on the streets of the regional capital Hawassa, roughly 200 kilometres (125 miles) south of Addis Ababa.
Results are expected by Friday, said Soleyana Shimeles, spokeswoman for the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia.
But there is also concern among non-Sidama people in the would-be state, especially in Hawassa, for whom the city is home.
The Sidama push for autonomy triggered days of unrest in July that left dozens dead and prompted the government to place Ethiopia's southern region under the control of soldiers and federal police.
Armed soldiers and police remained on the streets of Hawassa on Thursday, patrolling the city in pickup trucks.
The referendum on autonomy springs from a federal system designed to provide widespread ethnic self-rule in a hugely diverse country. The referendum on autonomy springs from a federal system designed to provide widespread ethnic self-rule in a hugely diverse country.
At present, Ethiopia is partitioned into nine semi-autonomous regional states -- with the Sidama voting for a potential tenth.
The constitution requires the government to organise a referendum for any ethnic group that wants to form a new entity.
Not 'created overnight'
The Sidama -- who number more than three million -- have agitated for years to leave the diverse Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region.
If the people in Sidama choose to form a new state, the implementation of the referendum is expected to raise a host of thorny issues.
The city of Hawassa is ethnically diverse -- only about half the population is Sidama -- and up to now has served as the administrative centre for the entire southern region.
In the short term, tensions may be defused by a recent agreement that will allow the regional government to stay in the city for two five-year election terms.
"Celebrations may well be due, but a new region will not be created overnight -- this is just one key part of a process," said William Davison from the International Crisis Group.
"And during no part of that process should Sidama statehood harm non-Sidama residents or businesses."
With more than 10 other ethnic groups potentially keen to hold their own referendum on autonomy, the Sidama referendum is being watched closely across Ethiopia.
The "key question now is how Wolayta, Hadiya, Gurage, Keffa and other zones seeking statehood referendums will react", Davison said.

Biafra: Kanu ramps up diplomatic push for Biafra referendum, urged Biafrans to  keep faith

- Gets a huge warm welcoming in California

  IPOB PRESS RELEASE | Published June 18, 2019 | 17:33 CET
From left to right: IPOB Deputy Leader Uche Mefor, British MP Julie Ward & IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu poses for a photo in London United Kingdom

As our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his team continue the tour of USA and Canada with emphasis on diplomatic overtures and rallying the Biafran base to restore  Biafra within the shortest possible time, we the worldwide family of the Indigenous People of Biafra commend the family of California for the rousing welcome and support given to our indomitable leader during the town-hall meeting held on the 15th of June in Los Angeles.

Biafrans across the USA and Canada have been re-energised with the message of hope and restoration which has not only captivated Biafran audiences who are fortunate enough to attend these events, but has permeated the subconscious of every black African who has come into contact with this message of redemption as evidenced by the high number of goodwill messages received by our leader from non Biafrans.

Biafrans across the west coast of the USA have publicly pledged their moral and material support for Biafra restoration as piloted by IPOB and we promise to do all we can to restore Biafra at the earliest possible opportunity by the grace of Almighty God.

Many more IPOB family meetings, influential individuals and diaspora organisations are queuing up to host our leader in various cities across the United States. The next stop for our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will be the city of Houston Texas on the 21st of June 2019, where we expect Biafrans and non-Biafrans alike to gather to welcome and listen to him preach the gospel of the restoration of Biafra at a town-hall meeting.

Proposed Draft System of Government in the new Biafra - by IPOB

THIS IS FOR THOSE OF US WHO DO NOT KNOW HOW BIAFRA SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT WILL BE LIKE:
During the interactive session with our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on 12th January, 2019, OWEI KEME BRADIKUMO asked a question:

1) What is the proposed CONSTITUTION of the upcoming UNITED STATES of BIAFRA. Can we get a draft copy of it in the public domain now that will be necessary before our campaign towards the pending globally accepted BIAFRA REFERENDUM?

Response from MAZI NNAMDI KANU:
Biafra will run a unique political system designed to carter for the needs of our people.

We are going to have NATION STATES. We will have an IGBO NATION WITHIN BIAFRA. We will have an EFIK NATION WITHIN BIAFRA. We will have ANNANG NATION WITHIN BIAFRA, if they so choose. We will also have IJAW NATION WITHIN BIAFRA. We will have ISOKO NATION WITHIN BIAFRA. We will have IDOMA NATION WITHIN BIAFRA. We will have IGALA NATION WITHIN BIAFRA. Listen to this: THEY WILL ALL BE AUTONOMOUS.

Each Nation State will control the resources in their own land. The only thing that will bind us together will be a COMMON DEFENSE POLICY, COMMON ECONOMIC POLICY, COMMON POLICY IN HEALTH AND EDUCATION. In the rest, let people develop according to the pace that they wish or they decided amongst themselves to go by.

LAWS WILL BE DONE IN LOCAL LANGUAGES. Igbo Parliament will make their own laws in Igbo language. Ijaw Parliament will make their own laws in Ijaw language. The same thing applies to Ibibio and others. So that when people are lying to us we will know because you know lying is good in English Language. But you can't deceive the people when you are actually speaking in the language that they understand.

What we are going to have in Biafra will be A BRAND NEW NATION WITH NEW IDEAS AND NEW WAYS OF DOING THINGS. Our political arrangements will be geared towards addressing our core needs.

Igbo Land will have a Prime Minister. The same thing will happen to Ijaw, to Isoko, to Urhobo, to Itshekiri. Everybody will be Autonomous from one another to develop at the pace that they like. That is the type of Biafra we are seeking to have. And that is the type of Biafra we are going to have.

BIAFRA RESTORATION IS THE END TO DESTRUCTION OF LIVES AND PROPERTY IN THE OLD EASTERN REGION

     Published Friday, November 16, 2018 | 11:05am CET

Author: Enereji Chisco Valentine
For IPOB Writers Press

Biafrans are the people living in the old eastern part of Nigeria. These are people who share the same culture, religion, value system and the rest of them.  These people occupy the Old Eastern region of Nigeria which is now known as southeast,  south-south and some part of the middle belt.  The war which lasted 30 months (almost three years ) took the lives of millions of Biafrans. Many people especially children died of hunger and kwashiorkor.  This war took the lives of over two million people from 6th of July 1967 to 15th January 1970.

Ever since then, many groups and individuals have been agitating for the restoration of BIAFRA, but there emerged a very powerful group that has been at the forefront of this move since 2012. This group started in Malaysia and broadcasted from London with its leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, a young man from Afara Ibeku Umuahia Abia State. He is also a British citizen. He has been arrested twice and tortured mercilessly by the Nigerian government. First was in Olusegun Obasanjo's regime and second is in this present Muhammadu Buhari's regime. This young man has proven to be fearless even in the presence of his enemies and adversity. Below are some of the reasons Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) is agitating for Biafra referendum;

*  FREEDOM IS GOD- GIVEN RIGHT
Freedom of God, not man-made, is a right given by God himself.
According to Emma Powerful, the media spokesperson of IPOB, "we are fighting for  Biafra, because freedom is our God-given right, and the restoration of Biafra sovereignty,  which Fedrick Lugard, the British  mercenary soldier abused and defiled is our utmost priority, which our fathers fought for in 1967 and 1970 that was surrendered with the slogan of no Victor no vanquish ".

BIAFRA RESTORATION IS THE END TO DESTRUCTION OF LIVES AND PROPERTY IN THE OLD EASTERN REGION.

It is on record and a verifiable fact that July 29,1996, coup led by Lieutenant-colonel Murtala Muhammed and several other northern officers saw the deadly destruction of the Igbo people. It was gathered that not less than 30,000 Igbos were killed. People like Major General J. T. U Aguiyi Ironsi who was the then military head of state and some other top military men of Igbo extraction were killed.

Also, series of killing of her people by the northerners,  first in the 1945 and 1953 massacre at Jos and Kano respectively had taken place before the coup.

IPOB also said through its spokesperson Emma Powerful that "we are fighting the raping of our mothers, sisters, and daughters in our homes and farms by stinking nomads who disguise as cattle breeders and herdsmen ".

* TO END ATTACKS ON ON RELIGIOUS PLACES.

IPOB  said, "we are fighting for Biafra to end the unprovoked killings of our people in every well mentioned religious Crisis and bombing in far away Denmark of which the Biafrans are targeted in their place of worship, because of their religion and faith ".
It is also important to note that most of the killings and violence in Nigeria are religious oriented. A crystal  example  is 25th December  Christmas bombing at
St. Theresa’s Church, Madalla, in Suleja, Niger State.

TO AVOID HARASSMENT AND ATTACKS FROM THE  MILITARY.

The military in Nigeria keeps harassing Biafrans on daily basis, an example is a torture and inhumane treatment given to any Biafran found with material with Biafra insignia on it.
The group said through its spokesperson, "we are fighting for Biafra where everyone will have freedom of expression and peaceful assembly without being killed by the Armed Forces who cannot counter-terrorism".

             >>>>CLICK HERE TO EARN FREE BITCOINS<<<<

* TO PROVIDE SOCIAL AMENITIES FOR OUR PEOPLE.

IPOB is fighting for the restoration of our dear nation so that everything will be put in the right place.
There will be good roads, 24 hours electricity supply,  good and potable water, and even improvement in the security system

* PROVISION OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES.

The level of unemployment in Nigeria is alarming. Our youths graduate from the higher institutions and start roaming down the streets in search of a job and most of them indulge in crimes like armed robbery and kidnapping.
We want to abolish this when Biafra comes. There will be job provision for almost everyone.

The only way all these can be achieved is through the intervention of the International community and the United Nations.
The United Nations should intervene in this case and conduct a violent-free, credible, free and fair referendum in Nigeria because the right to self-determination is an international(UN) law which Nigeria is a signatory to.
It is also enshrined in the amalgamation treaty that any region that wants to break away after 100 years can do so, Nigeria is 104 years now, we are due to secede.

OPINION: Will Referendum be a Solution to the Biafran Conflict?

A Biafran referendum logo

Author
Comr. Felix C Onyemachi
For IPOB Writer’s Press

Biafrans need peace, happiness, joy, progress, security, and justice and these could only be realised by self-determination through referendum. Biafrans know what they really want and can no longer be deceived by egocentric politicians. This goes along to support the wise saying that “You can’t desire Egypt and desire the promise land at the same time. You must be specific with determination about what you want, to be able to reach your destination. There is no going back to the expired and rejected contraption called Nigeria.

We are calling for Biafra independence through referendum and so the best thing is to separate. The reasons being that we just want to control our political destiny to enable us build our own factories; build our roads, cities, bridges and not having to depend on somebody in Abuja. It is widely believed that an independent Biafra will resolve the issue of the marginalisation of the Igbos.

It is a common perception that we have heard many times that Igbo people are marginalised in a Nigeria that only serves the interests of the other ethnic groups - the Hausa and Yoruba. In almost 30years of democracy, Nigeria hasn’t had an Igbo president. They have been denied basic human development, basic social development and basic economic development for the simple reason that there exists in the polity mutual suspicion, mutual hatred and mutual resentment.

While the Igbos comprise one of the 3 largest ethnic groups in Nigeria, they have fewer states than the Hausas in the North and the Yorubas in the South-west, and subsequently get a smaller budget allocation. This, some feel, puts them behind the other regions. The South-east has not been at the forefront of Nigeria’s development and none of its cities are major economic hubs.

The present Nigeria regime under the leadership of President Muhammad Buhari has been after the emasculation of Igbo businesses. The Hausa/Fulani Oligarchy are after Innoson Motors. They are targeting to bring it down as they did to other Igbo businesses and technologies. President Buhari goes after Ibeto Group and freezes his account. While his interest is to pull down Igbo businesses, he gives several monopoly of businesses to his kinsmen like Aliko Dangote.

While most Nigerians were celebrating the results of the outcome of the recent PDP primaries won by Atiku Abubakar, they forgot that there is no difference between President Buhari and Atiku. The problem of Nigeria is neither Buhari nor Atiku, but rather the indestructible structure called Hausa/Fulani Caliphate. Whether Buhari loses or not, it does not affect the well-being of the Hausa/Fulani Caliphate as long as both contestants are Fulanis. The Caliphate has succeeded in replacing their late hitman, Muhammad Buhari with Atiku Abubakar to continue their Fulani agenda. Not until this structure is totally destroyed, individual leaders in Nigeria can never perform according to public expectations. This is why we must insist on referendum.

According to Paul Unongo, Atiku Abubakar is the highest financier of Miyetti Allah Cattle breeder’s cult in Nigeria and these people are strongly behind the unlawful killings carried out by Fulani Herdsmen across Nigeria and Biafraland. This development may hinder justice for the victims of terrorism by the Fulani Herdsmen if Atiku becomes president.
There were some Igbo “Efulefus” who were dancing and rejoicing when Atiku Abubakar was declared PDP presidential winner because of the post of Vice president. Even if Atiku picks a Biafran as a running mate, it will amount to nonsense and has no effects because this Biafra restoration is sacrosanct and remains irreversible. Our people must stop this macabre dance to self-destruction. Just like Atiku and Buhari have sworn to preserve the structure of the Hausa/Fulani Oligarchy in Nigeria, Biafrans should not deviate from their agitations for self-determination through referendum.

Biafra: The urgent need of addressing the referendum for a Biafran state

Biafrans Gather outside the Vatican with flags

By Nana Victor Maxwell Odum

It has been very clear to all and sundry around the world that the Nigerian State and its British Slave Masters have committed Heinous Crimes against the Biafra State Starting from the Creation of the Nigerian state down to the Genocidal War orchestrated on Biafrans from 1967 to 1970, spearheaded by Britain and their Marauding Hausa/Fulani willing tools, and up till today, Biafrans are still going through agony, subjugation, ethnic cleansing and religious pogroms in the hands of the Nigerian State.

Fortunately, for Biafra and Biafrans, there has been a Clarion Call for the Restoration of Biafra by the Indigenous People of Biafra {IPOB}, whose Supreme Leader in the Person of Citizen Nnamdi Kanu is still missing up till date due to the Invasion of his Abode in Afaraukwu Ibeku Umuahia, Biafra Land, by the Monstrous Nigeria Military under the auspices of Muhammadu Buhari  the Military Dictator occupying the Nigerian Seat of Power.

This Clarion Call for the restoration of Biafra has made the Nigerian State to Unleash Mayhem on Biafrans ranging from Abducting and Incarcerating Biafrans, Killing of Biafrans: for example, Every Man or woman of good conscience can attest to the authenticity of the Viral Videos and Pictorial Shreds of evidence of Biafrans Being Butchered in their Numbers During Series of their Peaceful Protests all over Biafra Land. At this point, one begins to wonder why the International Communities and Bodies like  United Nations, European Union, Amnesty International, I.C.C and African Union decided to keep Mute over the Heinous Crimes that are meted against Biafrans.

The Biafrans being a Peace-Loving People have resorted to the use of Diplomacy in the Restoration of the Biafra State by asking for a United Nations-monitored Referendum in order to decide their fate, whether to remain in the Nigerian State or to have a Free and Independent Biafra State.

Biafrans are asking for a United Nations Monitored Referendum as quick as possible with the following reasons below:

To enable the Biafrans have their own country, live like human beings and not like second-class citizens or even third-class citizens of the world.

To enable Biafrans to exploit their God-given Resources, Man Power and Intelligence in order to build their future and the future of their generations unborn in their own independent country

To avert another Genocide against Biafrans which has already started taking place against the Biafrans in Biafra Land

To Restore the Lost Dignity of Biafrans who are scattered all over the world and bring them back to their ancestral land.

These and many more reasons are why the International bodies, especially, the United Nations, need to call for an Immediate Monitored Referendum in order to make sure that the Biafrans decide their fate because a stitch in time saves Nine

We urge UN to quickly dissolve Nigeria in a supervised Referendum - YOLICOM Speaks out

Leader, Yoruba Liberation Command (YOLICOM), Kunle Adesokan(left); Spokesperson, George Akinola; Leader, Bunmi Abisogun and Leader, Samuel Olaniyan at the press briefing on the State of the Nation by Yoruba Liberation Command in lagos yesterday 2/10/2018 PHOTO; SUNDAY AKINLOLU

Yoruba Liberation Command (YOLICOM) has called for the dissolution of the country, urging the United Nations (UN) to supervise the referendum towards it.
The group claimed that the Yoruba account for over 25 percent of Nigeria’s population, adding that at over 50 million, the population is larger than that of many countries.

Its spokesman, George Akinola, told newsmen yesterday that after 58 years of Independence, the country “is shipwrecked” with indications of backwardness.

YOLICOM frowned at President Muhammadu Buhari’s style of leadership, which it said “favors the Hausa/Fulani more than any other ethnic group in the country”, alleging that the development was responsible for the braggadocio of the armed Fulani herdsmen.

Akinola described the country’s democratic process as flawed, adding that elections could no longer guarantee either the free will of the people or good governance.

He said: “As indicated in the events in Osun and Ekiti states, elections have become a savage stock exchange where the state and politicians institutionalize crime, bribe the electorate with illicit money and ensure that the victor emerges through a totally corrupt and inept system.

Biafra: UN must address Biafra Referendum to avoid violence in Nigeria

Post Election violence rocks Nigeria

Written by: Comr. Alex C. Okeke

Martin Luther King Jnr, the great American black rights activist, said and I quote,  "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy". The ongoing United Nations 73rd session, would be no different from a common and unnecessary jamboree if this great assemblage of the great world leaders does not give premium or priority to Justice, equity and fairness, as it concerns all indigenous people, seeking freedom from colonial boundaries, in their deliberations, especially as the body had originally agreed to jointly pursue in article 20 declaration of the rights of all World's indigenous people, among which the people of Biafra rightly fall in.

There would be no greater achievement of this body among all things in the ongoing 73rd session if the plights of Biafrans and their call for referendum do not gain momentum during discussions.

The United Nations was constituted as a genuine replacement for the former League of Nations, after the second World war, with the sole aim of promoting peace worldwide, in lieu of the fact that war does no man any good. Accordingly, a referendum was chosen as a major Democratic instrument to settling issues that bother on boundary adjustment and by extension, self-determination.

Violent or armed struggle became obsolete in a growing World, in pursuit of political sentiments. The United Nations Department for the rights of all world's indigenous people(UNDFIP), was in line, established by acts of law, to oversee the welfare of all world's indigenous people, who seek to assume sovereignty from their parent nations. This major instrument gained global preference as civilized nations leverage upon its wide acceptance to test all internal matters, pertaining to self-determination. The United Kingdom(Britain), tested same in 2014, in the heat of Scottish nationalist campaigns, although the question was settled through a negative affirmative, to the loss of the Scottish nationalists. Democracy and rule of law was enthroned and the people still have the chances of going to the polls once again, if the nationalist campaigners gain the debate for a rerun in 2020.

The British government is also making successes at Brexit, because of the option of a Brexit referendum. A referendum has become the latest global language for testing people's resolve on issues of huge political importance. The former Sudanese government, an African nation, after a lengthy arms struggle got the United Nations into resolving her questions of separation via an independence referendum, which birthed independent sovereignties of Northern and Southern Sudanese Republics. Why the United Nations ignored the earlier calls for separation until there was a large scale bloodbath in former Sudanese government, is a more reason why the World and United Nations, in particular, must rise early enough, and weld into the question of Biafra independence via referendum, before the mistake of another bloodshed takes a more sophisticated dimension in Africa. Why not NOW? Seeing that the Biafra Nationalists are more concerned about a peaceful referendum than a resort to War Via Arms struggle.

Nigeria as a case study, is a signatory member of the United Nations, and a participating Nation at the ongoing 73rd session of the UN general assembly, not only recognizes referendum, as an instrument supportive of self-determination but also applied referendum in 1961, in the procedures that led to the de-annexation of present-day secessionist Southern Cameroon (Ambazonia). The success of the 1961 referendum, which saw southern Cameroon vote to be with the larger Cameroun, birthed what we now know as Anglophone Cameroonians or secessionist Ambazonia. Though, the present day Ambazonia, through years of repression from Francophone Cameroon, are currently plunged in a war of succession as the world looks the other way round. The Paul Biya-led government is enmeshed in a  brutal mass genocide against the people of Anglophone Cameroonians(Ambazonia).

The questions of human rights of all world's indigenous people must be given unreserved attention in the ongoing congregation of World leaders. The current United Nations would be guilty of aiding and abating Worldwide genocide, especially against indigenous populations Worldwide, if they continue in the shame of lending megaphone to known war criminals at the ongoing session. Why the United Nations would legalize the rights of all world's indigenous people to self-determination, in article 20 of her charter on the rights of all world's indigenous population to self-rule but shy away from protecting same when invoked by vulnerable populations remains a major concern among all political analysts.

The Biafra independence campaign has reached its zenith. The people have suffered for too long in the hands of the repressive regimes of Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian president, and precedent administrations in Nigeria. It stretches from marginalization, secret abduction, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killing, use of various weapons of mass genocide and brazen denial to justice and fair hearing.

I call upon members of the G5 ( The USA, France, China, Russia, and Britain), to overlook all considerations on diplomatic bottlenecks and give Justice a chance, by raising the issue of Biafra independence referendum and enforcing binding modalities to take effect from the session.

I commend the secretary general of the United Nations, Mr. Antonio Gutierrez, and members and staff of the United Nations, especially for organizing the ongoing session and ensuring that such a great platform has No excuses not to convene.

To the World, a stitch in time saves Nine! Make hays while the sun shines!

Alex C. Okeke is a genuine comrade of the peaceful Biafra independence campaign under the great and uncompromising IPOB leadership.

Poetic Justice: Death has done no harm
Biafran children starved to death during the civil war

 If we cry gently, silently

What we shall one day have to say,
Death has done much harm
To we mere plant in the divine garden
If we do away with our falling father's will,
If we praise these killers in power,

Fear growing in us like green leaves
Who will hear us without laughter
If we pretend to be called what we are not
Pains burning in our inner heart
So afraid to say our minds

Who shall we blame of, death?
If we hope to hear from them again
With thunderous voices from above
Just as our ears were deaf
Who will hear our pitiful desire without laughter

If we wait for them to teach us their ways?
Not listening to the sea, sky, and air
Where they placed their signs
What we shall one day have to tell
With the black depth of our dirty throats
Death has done much harm

If we fight our fight, die regaining what belongs to us
Leaving all fallacy and fantasy behind
All, shall one day praise the dead
With a heart full of joy shall we say
Death, you've done no harm.

Referendum The Only Way Out, Not Restructuring – Agbakoba backs IPOB Quest

Agbakoba SAN

The former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), has rejected calls for Nigeria’s restructuring, says that call for a referendum by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is the only way out.

According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari made a mistake by charging the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, with treason.

“I see every politician now says restructure but I disagree. I also think the acting President was wrong to say that Nigeria is insoluble.

“There is nothing sacrosanct about Nigeria. It can blow up anytime. It’s an artificial creation, which was made in 1914 and when it was amalgamated we were not there. It was amalgamated in the interest of the colonialists,” Agbakoba said.
Agbakoba said Nnamdi Kanu shouldn’t have been charged with treason.

“For me, the best that he can be charged with is an unlawful assembly and an act capable of breaching public peace.

“Those are the things he can be charged with, but not treason; because Nigeria is a signatory to the United Nations’ Charter, which recognizes the right for self-determination,” he said.

Biafra: Emancipation From Mind Slavery

INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF BIAFRA

Written By Ibei Ibi

You Can Make Yourself A Permanent Slave In Nigeria Or Liberate  Yourself Through Biafra Referendum.

When you sell your conscience in exchange for a  physical or material gift, you are a slave.

When you deny your origin, in exchange for position, appointment or "Ghana-must-go bag", you just render yourself as the permanent slave.

When you are being bribed to give out your ancestral lands for grazing Fulani herdsmen cows, you make yourself a permanent Slave.

When leaders who are supposed to protect the interest of their communities conspire with the government to massacre their own people in a bid to secure Vice Presidential position, such leaders are slaves and in bondage.

Slaves are people caged in a confined area or house without access to moving freely, they are in perpetual shackles, physically, spiritually and mentally.

As a Biafran, you can make yourself a slave in Nigeria when you use all your resources to develop other people's states or communities living in your state or community in Biafra Land in the dark. That is the shortest cut to making yourself a permanent slave.

Till the day you thoroughly emancipate yourself from the shackles of corruption, bribe, greed, envy, self-centeredness, etc, you are in a full-blown slavery.

When all (human, mental, physical, economic and environmental) resources in your land are being controlled and utilized by certain non-indigenous people and the owners only depend on bribes and amnesty program kickback, it is permanent slavery.

But you can liberate yourselves today through Biafra Referendum.

This is a wake-up call made by IPOB because your destiny is in your hands. Many fowls meet their deaths simply because they are following and eating corns kept to trap them, that is exactly what bribes, greed, fake promises, etc do to the unwise.

The referendum is freedom!
The referendum is emancipation!
The referendum is liberation!
The referendum is being in charge!
The referendum is absolute control!

Old Eastern Region(south-south and south-east), let us wake up and embrace Referendum for Biafra today.

Biafra: Igweocha Elders Hold Summit on Referendum

Igweocha Elders holds a summit on Biafra Referendum

By Ogochukwu Nnanna

Igweocha elders under the auspices of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) turned up en masse for a summit on Biafra referendum. This gathering which comprised of elders from different parts of Igweocha was held on Thursday 9th August 2018. Biafran elders from Ihuruoha (Ikwerre), Eleme, Ogoni, Kalabari, Opobo, Etchie, Ahoada, etcetera, were adequately represented. Each representative boldly identified his tribe with a declaration of total support to the cause of the restoration of Biafra with particular reference to the upcoming referendum.

Following the formal introduction of delegates, was a full rendition of the Biafra National Anthem. The chairman of the elders' summit made a presentation of a well-articulated welcome address which basically hinged on the Biafra restoration project. He enjoined his fellow elders to remain strong and focused and sternly warned against involvement in acts of sabotage. "We have come this far to begin to contemplate quitting from the struggle", he further stated. The chairman in unmistakable terms assured that the calls for Biafra referendum/restoration have the full backing of the Igweocha elders. They unequivocally condemned the position of Ohaneze Ndigbo and disassociated themselves from their acts of subterfuge against Biafrans. The elders voiced out their disdain for Nigeria Restructuring and instead, re-emphasized their stand for Biafra Referendum which is the only panacea for lasting peace in the Nigerian contraption. They called on the International community to lend their support to this laudable project which is in line with International laws justifying self-determination efforts of all oppressed indigenous peoples globally.

Some Biafra veterans who attended the summit equally voiced out their support for the upcoming referendum. They maintained that the cause for which they stood and fought between 1967 and 1970, with millions sacrificing their lives, will never be compromised. The veterans unanimously stated that they were ready and prepared to do the needful again if duty calls, until total freedom for Biafrans is achieved.

Some consecrated pastors amongst the elders earnestly prayed that God Almighty in His infinite love, mercy and wisdom should grant us Biafra. Some measures of advice and encouragement were equally given to embolden both the men and women elders that were present, in the struggle which will soon pay off.

The women elders who were adequately represented in their uniqueness as Biafran mothers, rendered a song in support of the referendum, titled "If Nnamdi Kanu was not born, we would have all been lost and finished. But since he has been born, glory be to God".

The event which was fully streamed live by Family Writers Press crew who documented proceedings in the summit recorded commendable success. The IPOB Igweocha elders gathering stands out as one of the best programs in recent times that has taken place in this part of Biafraland. The evolving encouraging developments so far, confirm that the restoration of the sovereign nation of Biafra is already here with us.

BIAFRA: REFERENDUM, THEIR SHAME AND OUR STRENGTH

Add caption

I am very glad at this point to emphasize on the very sacrosanct self-determination event coming up soon, The Biafra Referendum. Millions of people, Biafrans and other lovers of freedom all over the world are eagerly waiting to hear the announcement of the date for this very important event in Biafra land because of the high degree of sufferings and enslavement of the people of Biafra by the Fulani Jihadist government of the contraption called Nigeria, indeed everyone has lost his or her last Chunk of hope and the only alternative to death being the restoration of the sovereign State of Biafra, surely BIAFRA is the only thing left in the minds of the people of the old Eastern Region.

There is a basic fact about the quest for the restoration of Biafra and that is the existence of two opposing forces, the forces against the restoration of Biafra and the forces for the restoration of Biafra. To the forces against, It has not been easy to let go of Biafra even when it is obvious on every new day that Biafra must be restored and of course is already being restored, these enemy forces have applied so many inhuman, unethical and unconstitutional strategies such as illegal arrests and unlawful detention of IPOB members, killing, maiming and abduction of innocent people including women and children, blatant disregard for court orders and rule of law, suppression and witch-hunting of opposition voices, illegal invasion of the native residence of the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra IPOB Prince Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, intimidations and harassment of legal Representatives and Counsels to the Indigenous people of Biafra and most shamefully the illegal proscription of IPOB(a very peaceful freedom fighting movement recognised in the whole world as such) as a terrorist organization just to bring down the efforts being made for the restoration of Biafra nation. In all these evils meted against the struggle, the perpetrators have always successfully gained shame and disgrace as well as disapproval from the international scene, they have also succeeded in lending strength to the Indigenous people of BIAFRA as well as enhancing the global announcement of the struggle for the restoration of Biafra. Every attack on IPOB and its leadership ends up bringing in more sympathizers and volunteers to join IPOB.

I am yet to unravel the mystery behind the PRO forces archievements which have remained unprecedented in the history of freedom fighting the whole world, without firing a shot but just upholding the truth and courage to stand fearlessly before the enemy. IPOB has destroyed the evil British empire called Nigeria.

In view of the forgoing, all the principal actor-forces against the emergence of Biafra have undoubtedly known that they have lost the battle but their greatest challenge now is how to defeat ego and shame that are clothed in worthless pride, which is the reason Nnamdi Kanu and the leadership of IPOB having obtained the mandate of the Biafran people through the mock referendum (Sit-at-home exercises of 30th May 2017 and that of 2018) have formally requested for a date for the Biafran people to decide through ballots on whether to still remain in Nigeria or go away as an independent nation, that is a call for BIAFRA referendum.

IPOB has proposed this honorable approach in order to accommodate the weakness of the government of Nigeria which is made manifest in pride and stubbornness. Indeed announcing a referendum would be a very perfect way of avoiding the calamity that will soon becloud the geographical concoction called Nigeria.

The fact that Biafra must be restored makes it very necessary to conduct this referendum and the fact that it is "referendum" and not "restructuring" makes it very shameful to those who are saying no to it and the fact it must be done shows our strength. It is Biafra or Death.

Nigeria,  A Repeat Of The Jihad 1804 Or Biafra Referendum?

By Onyebuchi Eucharia O.
For IPOB Writers

Section of the Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria

This is to draw the attention of the public that what is happening in Nigeria today is the return of 1804 Jihad (religious war), not a mere politics as posed by the government.
The jihad of 1804 began in northern Nigeria when the ruler Bawa, of Gobir, one of the original Hausa kingdoms, invited Shehu Usman Dan Fodio, an Islamic scholar and a preacher of Islamic religion in 1774 to educate Bawa’s nephew and a later successor, Yunfa.

Dan Fodio in later years preached against taxes levied on poor masses in the north, which turned people’s heart against the government and left Dan Fodio with followers much than expected. When Yunfa his student, took over the throne in 1803, he tried to save Gobir territory from a foreigner (Dan Fodio) and attempted assassination that failed.  Yunfa later exiled the scholar and his followers from Degel where he lived. In retaliation for what Yunfa did, Dan Fodio assembled the nomadic Fulani Clans in a jihad that killed Yunfa, conquered Hausa land and attempted to carry the jihad to other parts of the present day Nigeria.

The conquest of the North brought the establishment of Sokoto Caliphate and what is now known as jihad of 1804 (Wikipedia).

The jihad, however, was stopped in Benue State, which the governor of Benue State, Ortom Samuel (2018) in daily sun report, opined that the attacks on Benue by Fulani herdsmen are acts of vengeance for losing the 1804 jihad because Benue people stopped them from penetrating the state through Sokoto. The governor, further referred to the statement issued by Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, that in 1804 jihad, it was Benue people who stopped them from penetrating from Sokoto to the sea and this time around, they will not stop and will make sure they mobilize all Fulani men across the globe especially from West African sub-region to ensure that they acquire arms and come to invade and take over the land (Nigeria), the only land God has given to them by conquest and no other person, ethnic or tribe will supervene on the land or have business staying in the land (Nigeria) except them”. (News express adopted from daily sun news, 2018)

The above statement, therefore, was in line with what is happening in the present day Nigeria. One should not regard these herdsmen killings as mere politics but Jihad in disguise, boldly written in the portfolio of the present Government of Nigeria through APC “Change”. When change thus, was the language of APC, no one knew the type of change till when the blood of the innocent citizen became a daily ritual, the seat of government hijacked to themselves and families, (APC agenda, 2015).

One should also know that the autocracy, nepotism, dictatorship, Boko Haram,  Herdsmen ripping the heart of the Nigeria society is not about politics, community conflicts,  power tussle, party group but a tool to confuse people the more not to realize it as ethnic cleansing and religious war ( Jihad).

The above assertion was the reason for the intimidation and killings of Christians, Biafrans all over Nigeria and any person or group of persons who speaks against the injustice, which was exactly what happened to the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who had foreseen and spoken in his broadcast of what would befall the country if separation is not done.

The lamentations and warning of the activist were thrashed, the activist callously handled for revealing the secret of government portfolio.

But today, the activist has been vindicated as the force of the Jihad becomes a daily headline in the Nigerian newspapers, which is a clear sign that the only solution to the Nigerian problem is separation through a peaceful referendum.

A referendum remains a peaceful process to determine self-actualization. It has never been a call for war or ethnic discrimination but a right, a lawful right for citizens of a country that wishes to secede and be on their own, which is the only way one could be saved from the brutal killings going round the Nigerian society.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), however, uses the above assertion of Jihad uprising to inform the general public of the need for Biafrans to secede peacefully from Nigeria to avoid killings of more innocent citizens because of religious belief.

In the same coin, IPOB calls on the international communities, lovers of freedom, amnesty international, Biafrans everywhere in the world to stop  Jihad by supporting the upcoming Biafra referendum that will commence soon to enable secession that will save lives of the people.

Choose Biafra Referendum and stop jihadism!!!
