Biafra: Poetic Justice: Dusk At Dawn In Umuahia

Nnamdi Kanu

 The dusk appeared
 Like a killer squad
Crushed the bright
New day on
Pretty service
And posed forcefully
Everywhere in the land
With beast images

The killers,
Men of cruel heart
Beautifully armed
With smiles of
No mercy
In a song chanted
Snake dance, snake dance.
From the highest authority
We have come
To molest, slaughter
And happily drink
The routine blood of prey
Our favourite prey
The quencher of
Our daily blood thirst

With joy and laughter
They clutched
Feet to feet
Arm to arm
As if in a war front
As if in hunt of animals
Struck at sight
The flesh of
A plump body
The targeted victims
In the road, street
And palace
Pierced through
With a glazed dagger
And designers bullets
Proudly formed
A bloody pilgrim
Of sorrow

I saw it falling
The blood of the victims
It was as if
It wasn’t blood
From human flesh
As it gushed heavily
And waved to the sun
That wept
And hid behind
The cloud

Alone I trembled
In pains and tears
My grief darkened
Beyond nightfall
To answer queries:
Why do I grief?
What has caused
My tears?
As if I didn’t see
What the sun, saw;
As if not aware of
What made the sun weep.

The blood hosted
In the palace, bushes
and road
Is now
A yearly sorrowful song
A day to mourn
A pretty scar
A tall weep
In the history
Of the people

 If the day is not
 Remembered
 How will it be known
 That it happened?
If the day is not mourned
 How will it be known
 That it’s an abuse
 To ancestors?
 If eyes not in tears
 How will it be known
That the heart is in pain?

The people today
Mourn dotted heart in
Cream agony,
Bleed towards
The sunset
To find solace
And vengeance
For the caged hero
And family
Now that the sorrows
Of the people
Have gone lame

Oh…yes
If you care for the oppressed,
Look for a way to help;
If really righteous,
Speak for justice;
If enjoy freedom,
Fight for freedom -
For those
whose
Freedom is due:
Freedom for Biafra
Freedom for justice.
Support Biafra referendum
For Biafra freedom;
Biafra, land of the rising sun

All Hail Biafra

A Poem: Dedicated to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and family, and those massacred in Umuahia Abia State capital on the 14th of September, 2017 during operation python dance II
