2023: Orji Uzor Kalu Betrayed The Igbo Cause - Edwin Clarke

 Published Thursday, 12 May 2023 @ 11:42AM CET

lder statesman and former Federal Information Commissioner, Chief Edwin Clark, has taken a former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, to the cleaners, describing him as a “traitor”.

While accusing him of betraying the Igbo cause, the nonagenarian said that although Kalu was one of the oldest vocal frontline politicians in the South-East, he doubted his sincerity and transparency.

Clark, therefore, called on southeast leaders to “sanction any of their sons or daughters trying to betray them, otherwise, your case will be jeopardized from your home.”

He said it was surprising that Kalu did not only drop his ambition to contest the 2023 presidential election but also declared his support for the presidential ambition of the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, from Yobe State in North East “on puerile and misinformed reasons that only South-East and North-East has not produced civilian Head of State in Nigeria.”

Clark bared his mind in a statement titled: “Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is the betrayer of his ethnicity.”

He statement read, “Recently, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, publicly announced to Nigerians that he will drop his Presidential ambition if the Presidential seat was not zone to the South East. He even went to the extent of floating an organization known as Njiko Igbo Movement, whose purpose is to help secure the Presidential seat for a Nigerian citizen of Igbo extraction, Because an Igbo has only held the position of a Head of State for 6 months since Nigeria’s Independence.

“The Movement has branches and support groups throughout the Diaspora. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, launched the organization together with former Nigerian Senator, Emmanuel Onwe, a human rights advocate and lawyer, earlier based in the United Kingdom.

“Unexpectedly, the same Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, did not only drop his ambition to contest the Presidential election but also declared his support for the Presidential ambition Distinguished Senator, Ahmad Lawan, from Yobe State in North East on puerile and misinformed reasons that only South-East and North-East have not produced civilian Head of State in Nigeria.

“To quote him from the Sun Newspapers of Tuesday, May 10, 2022, he said; “In the absence of a South Easterner being President of Nigeria in 2023, I have my full support for a North Easterner. This is because it would be the closest to the equity, fairness, and Justice everyone is talking about. It further means that the justice is on its way to the South East”.

IPOB TO S'EAST GOVERNORS: YOU PROSCRIBED IPOB TO IMPRESS YOUR NORTHERN MASTERS, NOW THEY HAVE UNLEASHED TERRORISTS AGAINST YOUR VILLAGES

■ Twitter: @umuchiukwu

■ 17, Sep 2020

The treacherous and ignoble role of South-East Governors, some self-acclaimed Igbo political elite and the Nnia Nwodo -led Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the proscription of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, and the subsequent invasion of the Afaraukwu Umuahia country home of our Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on September 14, 2017, are enough lesson for traitors. It's a constant reminder of the Igbo adage that "when you kill your hero in an internal squabble, during an external fight you must remember him ". Three years down the line, we want to ask these traitors: How have they and Igbo land fared in the hands of the Fulani? The reward of treachery is a shame and eternal regret! By conniving with the enemies to get rid of IPOB that is the only defence line of Biafra nation, these saboteurs have opened our land for constant attack and humiliation by Fulani terrorists, herdsmen and bandits.

First, in their shameful bid to appease and impress their Northern masters for political reward, these traitors outlawed IPOB, a peaceful movement, and paved the way for its eventual proscription as a terrorist organisation. Ever since then, how have they protected or defended Biafra land against incessant Fulani unprovoked attacks? To their shame, Igbo land and the entire Biafra territory have been rendered vulnerable as the enemies on total annihilation and conquest mission have turned it into slaughter ground. It was their treachery that gave the Nigerian Army the effrontery to raid the home of Nnamdi Kanu on September 14, 2020, under the guise of Operation Python Dance.

Their mission was to kill him at all cost but God thwarted their evil plans. Not done with the recent massacre of 21 unarmed Biafrans at Emene by the wicked Nigeria security agents, the Army, DSS and Police, have now resorted to house abduction of IPOB members and other Biafra agitators. The question is : Where are the treacherous Igbo governors, political elite and Ohanaeze that proscribed? The secret slaughtering of our people in every part of Biafra land since 2015 has continued unabated till date. We are aware of the on-going house -to- house search by security operatives designed to pick up and eliminate Biafrans in Igweocha, Enugu, Imo, Aba, Asaba and the Ebonyi States.

This is yet another unprovoked attack by Fulani terrorists in Nigeria police and army uniforms since the August 23rd 2020 barbaric killing of Igbo youths in Emene, Enugu State. Just last week at Ohafia in Abia State, they abducted Mazi Okewu Agwu from his home and many others including Mazi Samuel Arua Eme, Mazi Kalu Iroha Amogu, Mazi David Agwu and 12 others whose names are yet to be established as at the time of this press statement. Fulani terrorist groups at different locations in Biafraland have been using their kinsmen in Nigeria security formations across the country to unleash different attacks on innocent citizens of Biafra.

This continued state-sponsored attacks and secret murder of IPOB members and Biafrans, in general, must stop! Let it be on the record, therefore, that anyone - man or woman, civilian or security agent, etc, directly or remotely involved in killing IPOB member has a debt to pay no matter how long it takes. We are monitoring and taking records of every single attack on our people and how Nigeria government and her security agencies abduct IPOB members and use chemicals and acid to murder many of our people in their custody to conceal evidence.

We are telling the Nigeria government and her security operatives as well as Biafra traitors that IPOB cannot be decimated contrary to their erroneous calculations, and wishful thinking. In case they have forgotten, IPOB is a global movement divinely ordained to liberate Biafra and other tribes caged in this British contraption called Nigeria. Our resolve to restore Biafra freedom and independence is of God Almighty (Chukwu Okike Abiama) in Heaven, a task that must be accomplished very soon. We still call upon US Embassy in Abuja, British High Commission in Abuja, the Canadian Embassy, as well as the Governments of Australia, Israel, France, Germany and Russia to prevail on the Nigerian government and its security operatives to stop their ongoing silent genocide against Biafra agitators.

The world should not play blind eye to this atrocity and crime against humanity. They must also prevail on Nigeria Government to release our people abducted illegally, and also release those dead bodies they took away during the barbaric attack on peaceful and unarmed citizens of Biafra in Emene Enugu State. Nigeria government and her partners in crime must understand that the incessant killings of Biafrans and their murderous tendencies against the peaceful and innocent citizens of Biafra will soon break Nigeria into pieces without remedy. The latest attempt by the Nigeria government to blackmail IPOB and project it as a terrorist organisation cannot fly. Their ridiculous and shameful claim that a nonviolent and unarmed group is responsible for the purported attack on heavily armed security agents in South East is untenable.

How can an unarmed man attack fully armed security personnel? Doesn't it sound funny? Ordinarily, we wouldn't have bothered to dignify these detractors with a response as we have since known their stock in trade, but for the sake of the gullible ones and some innocent minds. We want to, once again state here that there is no iota of truth in this fictitious claim. We equally want to sound a note of warning to everybody especially those who derive joy in castigating IPOB to desist forthwith or brace up for the consequences of their blackmail. Besides, they should know that the era of propaganda and cheap blackmail is gone.

We are ahead of their game. Frivolous and concocted allegations designed to disparage IPOB can no longer sell. The world now knows better. IPOB's nonviolent ideology about the Biafra project is well known and cannot change. It's an irony that IPOB, outlawed in Nigeria as a 'terrorist group', freely operates in over 100 countries of the world.

We hold our rallies and activities without molestation or intimidation in these countries because they know we are not terrorists and don't intend to be. All we need is Biafra, our own country which has been in existence before Britain created Nigeria and unequally yoked us with Fulani that value cows above human lives. Marriage isn't by force. We are tired of this bondage and want a referendum to determine our fate. Simple!

Ndigbo are not cowards.

 Written by Emmanuel Ike Nwobosi

Enough of these unnecessary killings of Ndigbo in Igbo land!

They must stop these killings in the name of trying to stop Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB.

Power involves a relationship between people;

Do not be one of the many who mistakenly believe that the ultimate form of power is independence.

Any further attempt to shed innocent blood of my people will be resisted.
We are not bushmeat, we are humans!

Igbo officers facing extinction in Nigeria Police, Intersociety protests to PSC, IGP

...Demand promotion, appointment of 226 additional senior police officers from South East region

IGP

By Aloysius Attah, Onitsha

A civil rights group, International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law, (Intersociety), has raised the alarm over the marginalization of the South East in the appointment of senior police officers by the Police Service Commission and the Inspector-General of Police.

In a protest letter sent to the PSC and Inspector General of Police and released to newsmen in Onitsha, signed by intersociety Board Chair, Emeka Umeagbalasi, the group alleged that the lopsided appointment in the Force had gone ‘nuclear’ since the middle of 2015 while there was an imminent threat of total elimination of the Igbo from the NPF.

“As a matter of fact and urgency, the Southeast geopolitical region already stands the high risk of not producing the country’s IGP in the next ten years, if not permanently.”

The group demanded that the highlighted constitutional aberrations and illegalities must be discontinued while there must also be ‘special recruitment and promotions’ to correct the imbalances under complaint.

“The seeming age-long ‘promotion stagnancy’ policy against Igbo-Southeast serving junior and senior police officers in the Nigeria Police Force must further be abolished. As a matter of fact, all forms of discriminatory policies in the Force remotely or directly targeted at the Igbo-Southeast region or any other geopolitical region must be totally done away with.

These firm demands of ours are beyond conditions and excuses. They also require extreme urgency and must be treated as ‘National Emergency.’
To address the imbalance, the group called for ‘special recruitment, commissioning and promotion in the Nigeria Police Force for purpose of filling the vacancies and lop-sidedness in the Force particularly those meant for Igbo-South East.

“Specifically, there shall be promoted and appointed under ‘special circumstances’ the following number of Igbo senior police officers: six new AIGs and two Zonal AIGs, ten CPs and five State Commissioners of Police, 19 additional DCPs, 34 ACPs and 150 CSPs. This is to fill the ‘shortages’ in the region’s lists of AIGs and their zonal headships, CPs and their State Command headships, DCPs, ACPs and CSPs. Similar vacancies belonging to the region and existing in the ranks of Constable to Superintendent shall be identified and filled up to bring same at par with those of other four geopolitical regions or regions of the Northwest, the Northeast, the North-Central and the Southwest.

“The Nigeria Police Force under you, sir, must be administered secularly, pluralistically and securely, so as to give all ethnic nationalities and religions in Nigeria a sense of belonging, cohesion and collective security,” the group said.

Nigeria must apologise to Igbos for genocide - Fani Kayode

Former Aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has said Nigeria must apologize to Igbo for killing about three million people in the 30-month civil war with the defunct Republic of Biafra.

Femi Fani Kayode

Fani-Kayode said it was the refusal to acknowledge the ethnic cleansing that was responsible for the country not recording any meaningful progress years after the war.

“We have not apologised to Igbo and we expect things to move in this country? You collected their property in the name of abandoned property. They came back to believe in one Nigeria and began establishing again in the North and West, and you say we shouldn’t talk about it?

“Just as they killed three million, how many of your youths have been killed as IPOB members? Are they not human beings? And they say you shouldn’t talk. As long as you don’t carry arms, go ahead and express your rights,” Fani-Kayode said.

Fani-Kayode who spoke at the eighth Zik lecture series held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, weekend, described it as the greatest genocide the African continent ever had.

Fani-Kayode said leaders of the country had failed to avoid those things that led to the war and the genocide and that the trauma still pervades the country.
He also queried a situation where all the security agencies, except one, are headed by northern Muslims.

The former minister disclosed that he was asked by the organizers to be civil in his speech, but submitted that only sincere acknowledgment of the issues in Nigeria could bring about solutions to the problems.
He said Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe represented the testimony of the fact that people could truly believe in one Nigeria, adding that the nation’s first president must be angry with present Nigeria.

He recalled that Dr. Azikiwe could have been the First Premier of the Western region but was edged out, a situation he described as a tragedy for the country.
He said the greatest undoing of the country was ignoring critical issues and injustices done to citizens and pretending as if nothing happened.

Former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, had expressed similar view recently at the second Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu memorial lecture in Anambra State.

Moghalu regretted that the Nigerian Government every year sends delegation in commemoration of the Rwandan genocide but will not remember the millions of people killed during the Nigeria-Biafra war.
