BIAFRA REFERENDUM

With delight and respect to the rule of law, the indigenous people of Biafra worldwide uses this medium to inform the general public that the Nigerian federal government, through the virtue of its 1999 constitution as amended supports a conduct of a referendum to Biafrans. In chapter 1, Part 2, Section 8, of 1999 constitution as amended, it stipulated that any defunct region of the country that demands boundary adjustment or creation of State should be allowed through a supervised referendum, which is in line with the demand of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The leadership of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), therefore, reminds the Nigerian federal government of the above state creation and boundary adjustments (procedure) Acts and call on the world leaders to hold Nigerian government by the law of the country, to conduct a peaceful referendum for Biafran people, as a right, a legitimate or lawful right to secede or adjust boundary as stipulated in the constitution. A referendum however, is never an avenue for war but a democratic process to determine self actualization of a people whose right to live seems not to have reached as desired. The reason Indigenous people of Biafra are calling for a referendum to determine their fate in Nigeria is to have the right to worship and the right to live freely from the Islamic extremists that have been in many ways making efforts to exterminate them right from the inception of the country, Nigeria. It is no longer news the killing of Biafrans and other Christian brothers all over Nigeria, to maintain the slogan of one Nigeria. The killer squad, Boko haram disguised recently to another deadly sect, known as Fulani herdsmen have killed many in different parts of the country, especially, south East, south-south region and Christian dominated areas of northern Nigeria. The killing of Biafrans and Christians in Nigeria is simply a Jihad (religious war), using cow as an excuse. For instant, the recent killing of Christians in Plateau state, in a statement issued by Danladi Ciroma the chairman, north central Zone of Miyetti Allah cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria said that the attack and massacre of over two hundred Christians in Plateau State Nigeria, was in retaliation for killing and rustling of some cows by the villagers. The spokesperson of the killers still moves around without any harassment by the Nigerian government agent the DSS. But the reverse is the case for the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) and their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, whose home at Afaraukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia State was on September 14, invaded by the same government's military men for an exercise named (Operation Python Dance II), for a quest for freedom without arms. Since the day of the military invasion, the whereabouts of the IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, remain unknown: if he has been killed by the army or locked up in the prison, remains a question to answer by the Nigerian military. Yet, before and after the incarceration of the leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, he had and has never with his followers killed anyone or destroyed any property in quest for freedom but the same government went ahead and tagged them terrorist group but ignoring the Boko haram killers - the Fulani herdsmen - that recently took fourth position as the world's deadliest terrorist group. If this is not jihad, what then? And the killers are regarded as patriotic citizens to be freed or protected against the odd, which must have been the reason a fasting and prayer exercise was declared over the dead Christians in Plateau, whose killers are in front of the government but are never arrested - for the Islamization agenda to continue. The above situation has been in the country, where human killers go about their normal daily activities without fear of being arrested or prosecuted but a killer of cow, receives punishment to die by hanging. Nigeria has become a country where cows are mourned with a grand funeral while humans are cut into pieces and thrown into the pit for who they are or about their faith as a Christian. It is obvious that Christians in Nigeria, who mostly are Biafrans, have no place to call their own in Nigeria, hence are demanding freedom through a peaceful referendum to have right to live and right to freedom of worship. The IPOB leadership however, invites all lovers of freedom, friends of Biafra, UN, EU, African Union, ECOWAS and Biafrans all over the world to come out in masse to support Biafra freedom through a peaceful referendum, which is the only way to console the people of Biafra, of the long grief of genocide suffered in the hands of the Nigerian government. The referendum therefore, will commence soon, join hands in Biafra restoration. Remember, “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends”, thus, “commit yourself to the noble struggle for human right. You will make a greater person of yourself, a greater nation of your country and a finer world to live in”, (Martin Luther King JR.)
