The
case for the bail Application of the Four Biafra activists, Mazi
Benjamin Madubugwu, Mazi David Nwawuisi and Mazi Chidiebere Onwudiwe and
Mazi Bright Chimezie, has been adjourned to 21st of May 2018
The Biafra activists are accused by the Nigerian government of importing
equipment used by IPOB to air on radio-Biafra preparations for
secession of Biafra from the Nigerian state; and today was scheduled for
the hearing on their bail applications but the judge, Justice Binta
Nyako adjourned the case because of a religious exercise - prayer -
which she said she missed but had allowed her registra to attend.
In her own words, "I have just released my registrar to go for prayers
and you have just made me to miss my own prayers"
IPOB Writers learnt that the judge, Justice Binta Nyako made the above
excuse so that she could push for another long adjournment in the case
for the bail application of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's co-defendants {IPOB's
detainees} so as to punish the activists.
But IPOB defense team maintained that "there is no evidence that if the
IPOB's accused persons are given bail that they will fail to appear in
court because the charges against them are nothing but frivolous charges
which cannot stand the test of any country's law including that of
Nigeria"
Meanwhile, while praying the court to grant his clients bail, IPOB
defense counsel prayed the court to restrain the Nigerian military from
invading his clients' residences to avoid replicating Nnamdi Kanu's
ordeal.
"My lord I also pray that while granting my clients bail that you make
an order restraining the Nigerian military from invading the house or
going anywhere near my clients to avoid what happened in the case of
NNAMDI KANU in order not to jeopardize this case further."
