Over 36 Million Nigerians Go To Bed Daily Without Food -  Nwafor

Abuja – The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has disclosed that over 36 million Nigerians go to bed daily without food due to dismal implementation of agricultural policies and programmes by the Federal Government.

Dr. Manson Nwafor, an Economist with the Economic Community of West African State (ECOWAS), who quoted this in Abuja at a media workshop on Agricultural Policy Instruments organised by National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS), expressed reservations on Nigeria’s performance and level of commitment to the implementation of Malabo commitments.

Nwafor who presented a paper entitled, “Demystification of the APP, NAIP, ECOWAP, CAADP and ancillary instruments implementation in Nigeria,” said in the implementation of the policies of the Comprehensive African Agricultural Programme (CAADP), Nigeria scored only 3.4 out of the required minimum threshold of 3.9 per cent of the maximum 10 per cent benchmark.
