Biafra: [IPOB Press Statement]: IPOB Reacts To The Deceptive And Provocative Use Of Stage-Managed Parade Of 'Criminals' By The Nigerian Police To Blackmail Its Mass Movement

The attention of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the command and control of our Supreme leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been drawn to the fake news being peddled by the Nigerian government in which they accuse IPOB of carrying arms and ammunition.

We the Indigenous People of Biafra want to make it abundantly clear to Nigerians and the world at large that we have not resorted to arm struggle yet. We urge you to disregard this false information being peddled by the Nigerian government. Any day we decide to carry arms against the Nigerian government, we shall announce and publish it for all to know. It will not be done in secrecy.

We will continue to follow the United Nations democratically laid down guidelines and road-map to freedom, in order to achieve the restoration of Biafra. We will continue to mount pressure on the Nigerian government via civil disobedience until they give us referendum date. A referendum is a path we have chosen to restore Biafra and we shall not derail from it unless compelled to do otherwise by the murderous Nigerian government. However, the Nigerian government through it's compromised media has been trying so hard to convince the world that the call for a referendum is a call for war.

We also want to use this medium to warn the Nigerian government that any attempt to re-arrest our leader Nnamdi Kanu will lead to an unprecedented chain of violence that will overwhelm and consume Nigeria completely. The consequences of such wrong move will be cataclysmic and the effects will reverberate around the globe.

The Indigenous People of Biafra maintains its stand on the forthcoming Anambra State gubernatorial election. Contrary to false information being broadcasted and published by the Nigerian media, we will not participate in the Anambra election. We will neither come out on the 18th of November 2017 nor disrupt the election in any way. We will simply sit at home.

The killing and abduction of our people by the Nigeria military and DSS have continued unabated. We intend to remain peaceful in our quest for the restoration of Biafra but, we are being pushed to the limits by the Nigerian government. The Nigerian government should understand the saying 'he that is already down fears no fall'. Our peaceful disposition should not be misinterpreted as cowardice.

We call on the world to caution Nigerian government not to compel us to resort to arm struggle as it will do no one any good. The world should oblige the Nigerian government to set a date for a referendum and desist from blackmail, killing and abducting peaceful unarmed Biafrans.
