Northern Nigeria scared of failure if the country break up - Sanusi opens up

Emir of Kano

Muhammadu Sanusi II, Emir of Kano, in his keynote address during the opening ceremony of Kaduna state's investment programme titled 'Promoting Investment Amidst Economic Challenges' says northern Nigeria will be the poorest if the country is broken into components.  He lambasted the Northern leaders for not making enough effort in the development of the region.

He asserted that the percentage of poverty in the Northern region is alarming.

The Northern leaders refused to invest in the education of their masses out of selfishness and ignorance, instead, they encourage religious fanatism. Despite the fact that the northern region has produced many of Nigeria's military and civilian heads of state, there is nothing to show for that.

"If Nigeria disintegrates today, the north shall be the greatest looser because there are too many poverty in this region", it is not enough to encourage people to marry multiple wives and give birth to many children without future. This only brings cycle of poverty in the region. Look at our streets and you become ashamed of being a citizen of the region",    he said.

He urged the northern leaders to avoid selfishness and encourage the development of the region by investing in education.
