BIAFRA: How Nigeria fell for Kanu's trap that took the agitation to another level

IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu

If Nnamdi Kanu was arrested in London and detained at the order of a court, and eventually granted conditional bail, the Brits would not jump up and shout in celebration the way the bail grant of 25th April, 2017 occasioned in Nigeria, because justice is not miscarried in such a civilized Britain the way the Nigerian judiciary has degenerated; neither would there be fears and doubts whether the government would obey the court order.

Were this agitation for the Sovereign State of Biafra done in Britain, as similar agitation is ongoing in the UK where the Scots are agitating to opt out of UK, first of all, it is agreeable to posit that Nnamdi Kanu would not have towed this modus operandi in achieving Biafra.  I mean that Nnamdi Kanu would not have gone to a foreign country to open a radio station, broadcast and hold a position that camouflaged use of force to achieve his end.

He would not need to devise a methodology that played on the intelligence of Nigerian leaders just to convey his ideology.

He would not brainstorm some tricks like the World Igbo Congress of 2015 where he was openly feigning solicitation for arms in order to water down the misleading impression that his preparedness, to levy war on the Northern Nigerian leaders-sponsored Hausa-Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram terrorists supposedly invading Biafran land and cold-bloodedly maiming helpless unarmed Biafrans without the government acting to quell it, was gaining momentum.

In a strategy to make sure he captured the attention of the federal government of Nigeria, he would not have ventured into announcing non-existent 3million soldiers ready for war whom he would command in no distant time to bring the Zoo ( Nigeria) down within two weeks, neither would he have made the government believe that his mouthed soldiers would go to war if the state ventured to arrest him(Nnamdi Kanu).

He would not have made comments that triggered his arrest and illegal detention. He wouldn't have been inevitably declared wanted in the secret mind of the government.

It is now indisputably clear to everyone that all those strategies were brainstormed to provoke the attention and pro-activity of the Nigerian government to arrest him in order to quicken the recognition of the Biafran struggle and attract worldwide sympathies and supports to his course as it is evident that when (Nnamdi Kanu) was arrested, his 3million trained soldiers were nowhere to be found neither did the IPOB members who were seen protesting the illegal detention and flagrant disobedience to courts rulings ordering the unconditional freedom of their leader, resort to violence as expected by intellectually outsmarted Nigerians.

He tactically made them believe that his army is war ready and could go to war anytime pending his arrest which the Nigerian government blindly fell for, under the Buhari led government that has seen numerous condemnation of human rights abuses and tyrannical, dictatorship and totalitarian rule since he came to power in May 2015.

His arrest effectively took the agitation to another level, his arrest sparked series of protests both in Nigeria and in diaspora, his arrest brought the name "Biafra" which was once forgotten  again to limelight, this gave IPOB the opportunity to enter the international stage leaving the Nigerian counterpart no other choice that to release him in what seem to be a lost battle.

Were Nigeria-Britain, there would not be tribal subjugations, inequalities; declared but the unannounced systematic annihilation of people from a particular tribe which obviously led to the Biafran war.

Nigeria is not a state where due process of court can be used to achieve an agitation as Nnamdi Kanu initially tried that to no avail.

Were Nigeria a country founded on values, Billie Human Rights Initiative would not have been fagged out by endless adjournments of Biafra-Nigeria case. The government would not have devised the strategic changing of its lawyers in the case that led to the endless adjournments of the case, thereby, sabotaging and frustrating the Biafran quest.

There wouldn't have been coerced co-existence of ethnicities full of diversities which obviously is unworkable and destructive.

There wouldn't have been a ghost tyrant who chooses when to obey court orders and when to flout them.

Former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki; Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, the Shiites leader, and other unlawfully detained Nigerians would not have been languishing in gulags against the court's jurisdiction.

The laws of the country would have been followed and obeyed to the letter, and there wouldn't be illegal detention and unconstitutional Sharia secret trial sustained against Nnamdi Kanu nor the unethical conditions attached to his bail which violates his human rights.

Recall, Nnamdi Kanu regained freedom after Nigerian government's flagrant disobedience of several previous court's orders granting him freedom.

And just as households rocket into euphoria whenever light (NEPA, electric power) comes, sometimes after a period 3months blackout (whereas in developed countries, electricity is a normal-constant thing that gives no citizen such extra happiness), concerned Nigerians and pro-Biafrans alike went into ecstasy at the hearing of 25th April, 2017 court ruling granting Nnamdi Kanu bail, although under stringent conditions.

It is a shame that Nigeria is ceremonially in democracy but deeply rooted in tyranny which is one of the reasons why pro-Biafrans will continue to agitate till Biafra is restored, at least they will enjoy democracy; feel safe, free and relevant.

In Biafra, there shall be no such jubilation triggered by a surprised court ruling because democracy will be highly adopted, the rule of law adhered to and justice served without minding whether the government's ox is gored or her citizens'.

Finally, let all Biafrans know this - that Nigeria is a failed state that can NEVER work no matter how long it is forced to exist and who sails the boat.

Therefore, Biafra is always the only option available for choice and all the politicians from the Old Eastern States should understand that and act accordingly.
