45 YEARS ON......FURIOUS BIAFRA REAPPEARS IN STYLE

On the 14th of October 2015, Nnamdi Kanu, a British and Nigerian national was abducted by the Nigerian DSS (Department of State Services) in Lagos. The director of Radio Biafra and worldwide leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Kanu was accused in the court of law of unfounded and nonsensical charges such as felony, treason, illegal possession of firearms and other surreal crimes. His arrest according to the Nigerian government was linked to his association with an unlawful organization and also being a broadcaster to a ''pirate'' radio; Radio Biafra London. The last I checked, Radio Biafra London, is a recognized and registered radio station in England.

In parallel with this illegal and controversial abduction of Nnamdi Kanu by the DSS, Biafrans across Biafraland, Abuja, Lagos and in the diaspora have held and are still having series of demonstrations demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu. The combined Nigerian Police force, civil defence corps, Nigerian Army and air force have been having a field day in the continuous bloody massacre of innocent young unarmed peaceful Biafrans.

According to the Amnesty International UK ''over a thousand Biafrans have been killed by the Nigerian Army and Police since Kanu's arrest to place.'' Moreover, the Amnesty International UK and Italy report 2015-16 openly denounce the regular use of torture by the Nigerian Police and Army, as there are frequent cases of "extrajudicial execution of Biafrans, extortion, arbitrary and prolonged detention such as in the case of Nnamdi Kanu, even after being released, detained and acquitted "by two different courts of competent jurisdictions

Why then is it that after more than 45 years of the bloody genocidal war against Biafra by Nigeria, the world is back talking and reporting about the reemergence of Biafra? All these years, the restoration of the independent state of Biafra seemed buried. But presently, there is no day without a news about Biafra and (IPOB). The Biafrans have suffered and are still suffering from a well orchestrated and constant process of marginalization from the economic, social, and political policies of Nigeria in a context where the ''reconciliation process'' (an agenda to reconcile the Biafrans after the genocidal war that witnessed the death of more than 5million Biafrans) never actually took off.  Biafrans, Nnamdi Kanu, and some few Nigerians alike have been talking about these menaces and the government reciprocates by either unlawfully detaining or killing all opposing voices to its acts.

In 1966, almost half a million of Biafrans were exterminated and millions forced to flee to Biafraland because of a well-orchestrated northern planned and executed pogroms in Nigeria. The majority of northerners in Nigeria are of Hausa/Fulani descents. Since then, nothing has changed and none has conveniently answered nor explained the rationale behind the pogrom meted on Biafrans then. Presently, this gory history is gazing at Nigeria and the world at large.

The Nigerian media and its brown envelope journalism have continued in planting the seeds of fear in people that there may arise another civil war in Nigeria. They have failed to question why the quest for Biafra restoration now. This era is not 1966-1970. We live in an era where indigenous people may gain independence through a referendum monitored by unbias organizations in the world. Therefore, the need for these deceits and fallacies need absolute repression with truth and a superior argument that (IPOB) is neither an illegal organization nor threat to Nigeria. Unlike the Hausa/Fulani supported Boko Haram.

45 years on, Israel has never stopped supporting Biafra. Just as it is characterized in relations to Iraqi Kurdistan and the diplomatic support to the secession of South Sudan. No wonder then that a large proportion of the Biafran identity narrative is linked to a demonstrable Jewish root. This is therefore why the Indigenous People of Biafra whose territories and clans covers Abia, Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Igwuocha (Port Harcourt), AkwaIbom, Cross Rivers, Anioma, Idoma, Igbanke, Isoko, Igala and other clans and tribes in Biafraland continue to yearn for the restoration of Biafra. The land where their ancestors built and died.
