un-human-rights

The UNITED NATION declaration on right of indigenous people (UNDRIP) is an international instrument adopted by United Nations on September 13, 2007 to enshrine (according to article 43) the right that Constitute the minimum standards for the survival dignity and well-being of indigenous people of the world."The UNDRIP" protects collective right that may not be addressed in other human rights charters. It emphasizes individual right and it also safeguards the individual right of indigenous people. Declaration is the product of almost 25 years of deliberation by UN with member States and indigenous groups which Nigeria was one of them.
The first of UNDRIP's 46 articles declares that indigenous peoples have the right to the full enjoyment as a collective or as individuals of all human rights Law.

The declaration goes on to guarantee the rights of indigenous peoples to enjoy and practice their cultures and customs ,their religions, and their languages, and to develop and strengthen their economies and their social and political institutions. The indigenous peoples have the right to be free from discrimination, and the right to a nationality. Significantly in Article 3, the UNDRIP recognise indigenous peoples right to self-determination, which include the right to freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic social and cultural development. Article 4 affirms Indigenous peoples’ right “to autonomy or self-government in matters relating to their internal and local affairs, and Article 5 protects their right “to maintain and strengthen their distinct political, legal, economic, social and cultural institutions. Article 26 states that “Indigenous peoples have the right to the lands, territories and resources which they have traditionally owned, occupied or otherwise used or acquired,” and it directs states to give legal recognition to these territories.

Mr President Muhammadu Buhari, Nnamdi Kanu is not interested in NIGERIA or your GOVERNMENT, his request for right of indigenous people of Biafra has nothing to do with Treason charges against him. It is about basic human rights such as self determination and local democracy. Every area/region where the majority is for independence should get it, and any attempt of denying the people their right is tyrannical and oppressive.

Mr President asking for self determination is never a treason because it is NOT rebelling against the government. The government should be a representative of the people who are collectively sovereign, which means they have right to self-determination .

Mr President the Treason charges against Mr Nnamdi Kanu is a slap to United Nation Charter on self determination because all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and right .They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood—Article 1 of the universal declaration of human right.

With all due respect Sir, asking for self determination does not destroy the mother nation (Nigeria) and only seek to separate themselves to determine their own fate. For example South Sudan seceded from Sudan and Sudan still exist. Norway seceded from Sweden and they are both respected nation.

MR President since 2007, Mr ARTUR MAS, the leader of the Catalonian movement has not been Charged for treason or been persecuted by Spanish Government for calling for self determination, No life was lost, no recorded incarceration and massacring of peaceful protesters rather the Spanish government initiated a referendum vote on them. Same to Mr BENNY WENDA, who is the leader of the western PAPUA seeking an independence from the Indonesian Government, He wasn't charged for treason by the government of Indonesia.

Mr President it will be good if you will also throw your weight and support the independence of Biafra Nation just as you throw your weight for the people of Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic SADR other wise called western Sahara and stated that NIGERIA would ensure the realization of their self determination and independence on march 11, 2016.
