Biafra: Aso Rock In A State Of Confusion As US Rejects FG Declaration Of IPOB As Terrorist Organization

USA President Donald J Trump

Reliable information reaching IPOB Writers has revealed that Aso-Rock is in a state of uncertainty and confusion since US took a different position on the status of IPOB as a terrorist organization - as declared by the federal government of Nigeria.

Recall that Nigeria Defence Headquarters had on Friday, 15th of September, 2017 declared IPOB a terrorist organization, pinpointing what some people called "insufficiently weak" reasons for their declaration. The Declaration erupted some agitation from some legal practitioners as well as other well-meaning Nigerians who held that the military lacked the prerogative to issue such declaration, insisting that the court is the only institute saddled with the constitutional right to make such declaration.

Consequentially, a Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, declared IPOB a terrorist organization and prescribed it all over the country after attorney-general of the federation, Abubakar Malami, filed the order.

But the United States government through its spokesperson for the American Embassy in Nigeria, Russell Brooks, has declared that it does not consider the proscribed IPOB a terrorist organization.

Russell Brooks stated, in part: "The Indigenous People of Biafra is not a terrorist organization under US law”.

He, moreover, urged Nigerians to follow the path of peace in the address of agitations and resolution of grievances, if Nigeria's unity is to be sustained without escalation of the crisis.

He said, "within the context of unity, we encourage all Nigerians to support a de-escalation of tensions and peaceful resolution of grievances."
